the ‘el rio’ lookout

On the spot of past pirate lookouts, and later gun batteries, stands the ‘El Rio’ Lookout. At 475m, the viewing point spans the Famara cliffs to the left, the colourful salt ponds below, and the three smaller islands of la Graciosa, Montana Clara and Alegranza across the El Rio straits. These impressive views can be enjoyed from the interior window or from an exterior platform. All blend beautifully into the surroundings of the cliff-face where many varieties of bird life are found.
