In the centre of the island stands ‘El Monumento del Campesino’. Built in the agricultural area of San Bartolome, both the monument and the old-style farmhouse were designed as a tribute to the farmers of Lanzarote, who established a new method of farming to overcome the islands harsh climate. Also on display in the outbuildings are typical arts and crafts, made following traditional methods, which are followed today. Regional food and wine are served in the restaurant. The architecture of these buildings reflects a typical traditional style seen in many villages throughout Lanzarote.
