el grifo - wine musuem
Beyond the Griffon gates is the oldest winery in Lanzarote, dedicated to making wine for over 200 years. The wine museum is situated in the old cellars of the El Grifo winery established in 1775. The typical thick walls of volcanic stone and beamed ceilings create the cool interior for the exhibition of old tools and machinery. Hand-operated wine presses from the early 1900’s, underground wine storage and bottling areas and models of various press designs, are all attractively displayed with information panels throughout. The wines and related items can be sampled and purchased in the shop situated at the entrance.

For those who wish for a more in depth experience you may book a guided tour of the cellars, the vineyard and a tasting of El Grifo wines.

Open daily: 10.30 – 18.00
Guided tour: 11.30 (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri)
