The Americas under Spanish rule. Canarians travelled
to Venezuela, Santiago, Texas and Louisiana, but by
the 19th Century the most popular destination was Cuba.
There is a continued relationship today with the ancestors
of the islanders who were led by the mayor of Teguise
to San Antonio, Texas in 1730.
